Assistant Coordinator
The PBA: The Cascadia PBA formed in 2023 to address the barriers and accessibility to the use of prescribed fire on private lands in Central WA. The Cascadia PBA is a community-led collaboration of landowners, community members, and local organizations. We emphasize fire education, implementation, training, outreach, and accessibility for all. By bringing all lands and hands to the table we can truly meet land management objectives across all boundaries and ownership types.

Start Date: March 2026
Hourly Pay: PBA Asst: Coordinator $25-30/hr (DOE); ES Field crew $28-$40/hour. Paid sick leave. Additional benefits available after 12 months.
Position & Hours: Average 15-20 hours per week as assistant PBA coordinator with seasonal variation. Some weekends and potential holiday hours may be required. 16+ additional hours per week available as ES field crew.
Job Summary: The Assistant Cascadia Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) Coordinator will work with the coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of PBA events and related activities. Example events: Learn n Burns, Burn Plan Workshops, Guest Speakers, Fire Reverie, Farmer’s Market Tabling, Community Engagement Nights, Student and School activities…
Optional additional hours available working as a field technician for Ecological Services LLC. Work includes forest thinning and fuel reduction, low tech stream restoration, plantings, biochar kiln operations and RX burn module crewmember (NWCG qualification required).
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Coordination:
Assist in scheduling and organizing PBA events.
Coordinate with landowners, volunteers, fire crews, and other stakeholders to ensure participation and proper communication.
Support the creation and distribution of event materials, such as flyers, agendas, and safety guidelines.
On-Site Event Support:
Assist in managing volunteer check-ins, liability waivers, tool check outs and ensuring everyone is properly briefed and equipped.
Provide logistical support during events, including managing supplies & equipment, directing volunteers and documentation (photo & video).
Being a part of burns and training as a teacher and learner.
Administrative Duties:
Assist in updating and managing event calendars, contact lists, and other relevant databases.
Prepare post-event reports summarizing activities, outcomes, and areas for improvement.
Graphic design and promotional content creation.
Community Outreach and Education:
Assist in developing content for newsletters, social media, and other communication channels to promote events and educate the community.
Engage with community members, answering questions and providing information about prescribed burning practices.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equiv required;
Experience in event/volunteer coordination
Previous experience in fire management is a plus but not required. A willingness to learn is…
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
Valid driver’s license required.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Proficiency in Google business suite, canva, and social media platforms.
Knowledge and willingness to learn more about prescribed burning and land management.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Travel Requirements:
Regular local travel to project sites and prescribed burns, plus occasional longer travel for meetings/conferences or prescribed fire events, will be required. An ES vehicle may be available for transportation; however, the Coordinator will be expected to provide their own transportation for travel throughout Chelan and adjacent counties for meetings, landowner outreach, and other field duties. All mileage is reimbursable at standard GSA rates.
